1) Is there a god? 신은 존재하나요? (그가 대답하길)

“It’s my view the simplest explanation is there is no God.

No one created the universe and no one directs our fate.

This leads me to a profound realization: there is no afterlife either.

Belief in the afterlife is just wishful thinking.

There is no reliable evidence for it.

When we die we return to dust.”

He describes the creation of the universe as “a hot Big Bang” and nothing existed before this, with time and space being in a “bent state”.

The physicist believed “time” only began at the stage of the Big Bang as broke the laws of physics.

Black holes are regions of space with a powerful gravitational field that doesn’t allow matter or radiation to escape.

Hawking said: “Falling into a black hole is bad news.

If it were a stellar mass black hole you would be made into spaghetti.”

블랙홀은 물질이나 방사선이 빠져나가지 못하게 하는 강력한 중력장을 가진 공간입니다.

Hawking described it as “a very serious question”, adding:

“Since general relativity can permit time travel, does it allow it?”

Hawking held a party for time traveller in 2009.

To make sure only time travellers came, he sent invitations after the party took place — but no one came.

In a grim prediction, he wrote it was “almost inevitable a catastrophe will cripple the Earth within the next 1,000 years”.

He added: “By then I believe we will have found a way to slip the surly bonds of Earth.”

It’s tempting to dismiss the notion of highly intelligent machines.

This would potentially be our worst mistake ever.”
